But I Digress...

2.07.2005

I really need to learn to duck when the gauntlets are a'flyin'!

Total amount of music files on computer: 1.8... 1.5... 3.3 gigabytes. Math is hard! Hmm. Except iTunes thinks I have 4.45 gigs. I'll trust Apple on this.

Last CD I bought: Real physical CD? Not a clue. I did recently download the Gypsy Kings eponymous CD from iTunes.

Last song I listened to before reading this message: iTunes party shuffle sez, "Tell Everybody I Know" from Keb' Mo's eponymous CD. (Apparently I'm not big on albums with titles.)

Five songs I listen to often or that mean a lot to me:

"Paris in a Day" by Ellis Paul
Three years ago, I went abroad for the first time. Through a series of adventures, two dear friends and I ended up spending exactly one day in Paris. It was freezing cold and we barely spoke any French and the public restrooms were confusing - all of which contribute to the fond memory.

3000 Miles by Ellis Paul and A Saint's Complaint by John Gorka
I've spent a good part of my adult life prey to the whim of wanderlust. There was always somewhere else to go and something else to be doing over the horizon. Now the stars aligned and as I've grown older, I've realized that though I can still wander, it's ok to pick a spot and call it home.

"The Way You Move" by Outcast
Lemme study how ya ride the beat, ya big freak. Sometimes you just have to shake it to the beat...

"Time to Say Goodbye" Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman
Cry. Song. Makes. Cry. Tears. Flowing. I know it's a love song, but man. Put me in front of the fountains at the Bellagio hotel on a warm night when this is playing and oh, tears. Such tears!

"(I Just Wanna Be)Your Steve McQueen" by Eytan Mirsky
Because its boppy and poppy. And because it reminds me of my boyfriend who actually enjoyed it when I forced him to listen to it. And because, like the lyrics say, he is the coolest man I've ever seen.

Finally, I think that nearly every song Lyle Lovett has ever written is either laugh-out-loud funny or heartbreakingly beautiful. Would that I could write like he does.

What three people am I passing this baton to and why?
Easy! Gryph because her taste in music is always surprising to those who know her. ;) Tracy because I've no idea WHAT she listens to, so it will be a surprise! And, if she sees it, Jenny because the girl has some wild musical taste and I'll be able to pick up new ideas for mp3s.
